After finishing up on Johnny’s black socks, I decided it was time to make my own. I am using the left over yarn from his socks and some purple acrylic that I had laying around. While in Fairbanks, I purchased a new needle from Memories and More. Its a size 5, 40″ Addi Turbo. Huge difference! The needle is as smooth as glass. At first, it made it hard to keep my stitches on the needle but now that I am used to it, its nearly impossible to go back to my aluminum Boye.
So, I cast on 16 stitches using the purple yarn for each sock via the figure 8 method on my magic loop. Next I increased my stitches every other round until there were 44 per sock. Once I finished increasing, I started alternating the black and purple yarns every two rows to created a striped pattern. I am moving along very quickly compared to my last (i.e. first) pair of socks. Day two, and I am almost ready to turn the heel.
